ИНСТРУКЦИЯ ПО ВЫРАЩИВАНИЮ (СТОЛОВЫЙ КАРТОФЕЛЬ)
Leonata is a mid early variety for the transformation to French fries, in the fast food segment. The tubers are long oval shaped with a light yellow skin and crème flesh. The cooking type is BC with a dry matter content of 22.6% and excellent French fries quality. The variety is being widely introduced in the French fries market in Northwest Europe.
Leonata has a long dormancy period and a strong top sprout dominance. Receiving the seed potatoes timely is essential and if possible the top sprout can be removed. Planting when the sprouts are just visible gives the best results.
This variety is not sensitive to spraing and strong against common scab and can also be planted on light soils. The tuberisation is good and the normal planting depth and distance is recommended. The foliage develops quick with strong stems and give a good ground cover. Leonata is slightly sensitive to a Metribuzin treatment.
Leonata requires a slightly higher N-fertilisation of 250-270 kg/ha, well adapted to the soil analysis. If possible in two applications, 2/3 before planting and 1/3 directly after tuberisation. For Phosphate the normal advice application is recommended and for Potassium a slightly higher amount (300 kg/ha) is recommended to guarantee the tuber quality.
The variety Leonata prefers to mature gradually. Only slightly sensitive to black spot and harvest damage, but because of the length of the tubers and the expected duration of storage, careful handling is advised.
Because of the good dormancy period, the variety Leonata can be easily stored for longer time.
Resistance to diseases
Leonata is resistant to Potato Cyst nematodes Ro1 and to wart disease fysio 1. Normally susceptible for late blight and regular treatments are recommended. Strong against common scab en spraing and also to Fusarium.
