Cerata is a medium late variety for with cooking type B for the fresh market. The tubers are oval shaped with white flesh and a dark red skin. The cooking type is B with a dry matter content of 20%. The variety is cultivated in countries around the Mediterranean see and in Eastern Europe.
Cerata has a rather strong dormancy and top sprout dominance. It is advised to order the seed potatoes timely and plant after a pre germination of several weeks to brake the dormancy.
This variety can be planted on all soil types. It is advised not to plant to deep. The foliage development is good, a bit open at the start. Cerata is not sensitive to a Metribuzin treatment.
Cerata requires a slightly lower N-fertilisation of 225 kg/ha well adapted to the soil analysis. For Phosphate and Potassium the normal advice application is recommended.
The variety Cerata needs some attention at haulm killing because of the strong foliage if maturity has not yet started. The tubers are well attached to the stolons and the mother tubers are persistent. After haulm killing it is recommended to wait 3 weeks before harvesting. Cerata is relatively strong against harvest damage.
Cerata has a rather strong dormancy and is very god suited for storage. Generally no problems with Fusarium, but Silver scurf must be controlled.
Resistance to diseases
Cerata is resistant, to Potato Cyst nematodes Ro1 and wart disease fysio 1. Normal treatments against late blight are recommended. Rather strong against common scab and spraing.
